Special Services
Many employers contribute to the Association for Community Employment for the Homeless by matching their employees' individual, tax-deductible donations. Thousands of companies have matching gift programs that double (a one-to-one match) or even triple the amount of your donation. To find out if your employer has a Corporate Matching Gift Program, contact your company's Personnel Manager or Matching Gifts Program Officer. If your employer does have a matching gift program, please obtain your employer's matching gift form, complete it, and send it along with your donation to: Association for Community Employment
for the Homeless
Gifts of Securities (e.g., stocks, bonds, mutual fund shares, etc.) are simple alternatives that can benefit both you and ACE. By making a gift of assets that have appreciated in value, such as stocks, you can avoid capital gains taxes when you donate to ACE. Knowing the cost basis (how much you paid) for your stock is important in determining how much you will save. By donating any security held for more than one year, you can take an income tax charitable deduction equal to the full value of the donated stock. Moreover, you will have no capital gains tax obligation on the donated stock. ACE will also accept a donation of non-liquid assets such as real estate, art, jewelry, and valuable collections. And in the case of appreciated securities, you may deduct the full fair market value of your gift once you have held onto the securities for at least one year. You may use your deduction up to 30% of your adjusted gross income and are permitted to carry any unused deduction forward for up to five additional years.
To make your generosity felt by the least fortunate New Yorkers for years to come, you can donate through wills, trusts, and life insurance gifts. A bequest may take several forms. It can be a specific sum, a percentage of your estate, or the remainder of your estate after expenses and gifts to loved ones. Living trusts are a popular choice because the terms of a living trust, unlike a will, can be put into effect immediately upon your death, bypassing probate and keeping the terms private. In certain cases of larger estates, a bequest to charity may reduce the value of the estate enough to minimize or eliminate the estate tax.
The Association for Community
Employment for the Homeless is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization
registered with the Internal Revenue Service/Department of the Treasury.
Therefore, all donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent permitted
by applicable law. Donors receive an acknowledgment that includes a confirmation
of their donation for their tax records. |
